What is a Blocked Payroll?

If you get a notification from a GoCo Payroll Support Specialist or see that your dashboard indicates payroll is blocked, what does this mean?

What does it mean for Payroll to be Blocked? 

"Payroll Blocked" means GoCo Embedded Payroll is having trouble processing your payroll because of some potential issues. Usually, you will receive plenty of notice to sort out any problems before this happens. If you do find yourself with a blocked payroll, it’s important to identify the issue and resolve it as quickly as possible. This will help you resolve the issue and make sure your payroll, tax filings, and payments are all handled on time. We're here to help make the process as smooth as possible!

How do I know if my Payroll is Blocked?

If there are certain errors resulting in your payroll being blocked you have three ways to know your payroll is blocked. 

 

1. Email notification

Full Access Admins will receive an email notification that payroll will be blocked and a brief description of the Action Required:

2. GoCo Inbox Message 

Full Access Admins will also see an Inbox Notification within GoCo

3. Verification within the Payroll Section 

In order to check if your payroll is blocked you can follow these steps

1. Login as an Admin to your GoCo Dashboard 

2. Once on your Home landing page, navigate to the Payroll Section. You can do this two ways. 

         A. Select View on the Payroll Card

3. Once you have Payroll open, if your payroll is blocked you will see “Payroll Blocked” in red lettering next to any affected pay runs

Who in my company will know Payroll is Blocked? 

When logged into GoCo, only Full Access Admins will be able to see that a payroll is blocked. Employees will NOT be able to see pay run statuses. 

For communications from GoCo related to Blocked Payrolls, all critical communications will be sent to Full Access Admins via email and a GoCo notification. Full Access Admins cannot opt out of these notification types, and employees will NOT see these notifications or receive an email. 

How Do I Unblock my Payroll? 

Payroll may be blocked for several reasons. GoCo Notifications will give a Brief Action Required Description with next steps. You can also log in to the Payroll Section and hover over the Payroll Blocked symbol to see Reason and Details of the block.
