Understanding how to navigate each tab within the payroll app and what each feature offers can save you time and ensure your payroll processes are smooth and compliant. Below, we’ll walk you through the main sections of the dashboard: Overview, Documents, and Settings. Use the links below to navigate within this article.
1. Overview Tab
The Overview tab is designed to give you an at-a-glance summary of your most recent payroll activities and updates. This page is your home base for staying informed about payroll statuses and upcoming actions.

Payroll Notifications: Payroll notifications keep you informed of essential tasks, like company sync or team member errors. Staying on top of these notifications helps ensure timely payroll submissions and reduces the risk of errors leading to late payments. Check out more information on common errors here. To view the details of each notification, hit the "view" button next to it.
- This will redirect you to your Settings tab with more information on this error. For example, the above "Company sync failed" error would redirect you to the "Sync Company Configuration" section to start your sync and correct those errors.

Payroll Runs: This section provides a list of recent payroll runs, making it easy to review the details of each run including, Pay Date & Pay Period. You can also filter by payroll type here. When it is time to run payroll you will see a blue "Start Payroll Run" button. If you have a payroll that was previously started but not completed, you will see a blue "Continue" button. This quick access to historical payroll data supports your record-keeping and can help you verify that previous payrolls were processed correctly.
2. Documents Tab
The Documents tab is where all your payroll-related documentation lives. Whether it’s federal or state forms, this section makes compliance easy by providing access to key records in one place. Centralized access to these documents ensures you’re always prepared for tax season or compliance checks.
- State & Federal Payroll Documents: Compliance with tax and payroll regulations requires careful documentation, and the Documents tab makes it easy to locate and retrieve these records whenever needed. From W-2s to state-specific payroll documents, you’ll find what you need to meet reporting requirements and be prepared for audits. Be sure to use the filters & search bar to easily locate which document you're looking for.
3. Settings Tab
The Settings tab is the configuration center for your payroll system, allowing you to customize and review crucial settings. This area is where you can make adjustments to align payroll with your company's unique policies and ensure compliance with tax laws.

Current Earnings & Deductions: Here, you can view or modify your list of earnings and deductions, helping you tailor payroll items to suit different employee needs. It’s essential to keep these settings accurate to ensure that gross and net pay calculations are correct and that each paycheck reflects the appropriate deductions.

Payroll Schedules: This section is useful for helping you plan and align with pay cycles. Payroll schedules allow you to review your current set up, ensuring employees receive their paychecks on time while avoiding any conflicts with processing times.

Payroll Sync Options: As referenced above, you will see both your team member & company payroll sync options here. If you have any current errors displayed on your Payroll Notifications page, more information about them will be displayed here. You can seamlessly connect payroll data across systems and address these errors, reducing manual data entry and keeping information consistent.

Federal & State Tax Settings: This area lets you view and adjust federal and state tax settings, ensuring your payroll aligns with current tax laws. It’s important to check these settings periodically, as tax regulations can change, and your payroll system should reflect any updates.
