This Guide will help you easily manage and update federal and state tax settings in GoCo to maintain accurate payroll and payroll tax compliance.
Updating and reviewing your federal and state tax settings is essential to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with current tax laws. GoCo makes it easy to manage these settings, allowing GoCo Embedded Payroll to process payroll using your most up-to-date information. This guide walks you through finding, reviewing, and adjusting tax settings in GoCo for changes like new state requirements, business updates, or tax rate adjustments.
If you have received an email or notification from GoCo that your taxes cannot be filed due to missing or incorrect tax settings, make sure to check your settings and update necessary changes in a timely manner to prevent payroll from being blocked. Accessing your Tax Settings
To begin, you must be logged in as a user that has access to Payroll Settings, such as a Full Access Administrator or a Payroll Admin. Once logged in, navigate to your Payroll App from your Company Homepage or from the navigation tabs on the left side of your screen.
Now navigate to the "Settings" tab in your Payroll app.
Here you should find a card that reads "Tax Settings".
Once expanded, you will see sections for your Federal & State Tax information.
Hit the view button to see this information in depth and make changes.
Updating Federal and State Tax Settings
Your State tax information page may look something like this - to view details, you'll hit the "View" text.
You'll be taken to a new page with specifics about your State & organization. To edit this information, hit the "Edit" text but we're not done yet!
Note: Some states link out to Gusto specific resources. Keep in mind any professional services (like state tax registration) mentioned in Gusto articles are not available for Embedded Payroll. This will likely change in the future.
If you're updating your tax rates for an upcoming effective date, after you click edit from the step above, you're going to click +Add new.
This is where you can enter the new rate for the upcoming quarter/year!
Your Federal tax info page may look something like this. You can also edit this information.
Once you've updated your information, hit the "Save & Continue" button.
It's as simple as that!
