How do I run a report on compensation changes?

Looking to see changes in the compensation at your company over time? Custom reports are for you!

In order to see payment information over time, you should start at Company Reports. You can navigate from the left side menu:

In your Reports Module, you can either use the Standard Report already generated by GoCo or create your own Custom Report. 

The standard report will live underneath the HR folder of your Standard Reports section of the Reports App.

When utilizing the report autogenerated by GoCo, you can use the filtering options to show specific information - such as certain departments or over the last 6 months.

If you are deciding to create your own Custom Report, there are two common compensation reports you may want to pull.

  1. Run a report of compensation at a certain point in time
  2. Run a report of compensation changes over time

To run a compensation report at a specific point in time:

Scroll down to Custom Reports and click +Add Report. 

Select Create from Scratch & choose Team Member as your report type.

Name your report and configure the desired settings. 

  • For effective date, change the drop-down from "Today" to "Custom Date", then choose your date from the calendar.

  • Ensure that you Report Fields are set to pull Wage Rate & Wage Type, as well as any other fields you might want to view.

Click Save & Continue in the bottom right corner of the window to review your permissions before hitting the final continue button to view your report.

From here, you can download this report and save to your computer. 🎉

To run a report of compensation changes over time:

Scroll down to Custom Reports and at the very bottom, click +Add Custom Report.

Name your report and configure the desired settings.

  • If you want to include terminated employees on the report, change the first filter to show "All Team Members".
  • In the dropdown for an effective date, select "Show Changes Made".
  • Next, pick your desired date range from the second drop-down. A common selection is "Year to Date"

  • Under Report Fields, choose the fields you wish to see data for. The effective date will be included on the report by default. 
    • If you want to see the old data too, include the Previous Wage Type and Previous Wage Rate.
  • Most commonly your setup would look something like this:

  • You may want to include other fields like employment type, termination date, etc. Feel free to add as many as you'd like! Hit the Continue button to generate your report! If you would like to schedule your report to be sent on a regular cadence to your email, check out this article.

In the above example, all employees at this organization have both a Pervious Wage Rate & Wage Rate input because everyone has had a change in the 2022 year. If they did not, the field for Previous Wage Rate would be empty.

You can leave the report and come back to it later or download it as needed.
