What is View As?

To put it simply, Full Access Administrators now have the ability to impersonate any other user in GoCo and even take action on their behalf. This will:

  • Provide admins with the ability to temporarily assume the identity of specific users on GoCo.
  • Enhance troubleshooting capabilities by replicating the user's context and interactions.
  • Facilitate in-depth investigation of security incidents by enabling admins to examine GoCo from the user's perspective.
  • Improve overall user experience understanding by allowing admins to experience GoCo as different users do.

🚨 Please note that ONLY Full Access Administrators are able to use the View As feature. Full Access Admins will also not be able to "view as" other Full Access Administrators.

How to Use View As

Log in to GoCo as a Full Access Administrator. Once logged in, simply navigate to your Team page. Here, click on the team member you would like to impersonate.

On the employee's profile, click the "Actions" button on their Personal Information card & hit the "View As" button from the drop-down that appears.

A pop-out window will appear warning you that any action taken in the view as session will be in real-time & confirming that you want to begin this session. Click "Start Session".

A new browser window will open displaying your view as session! You will see a green banner at the top of the page notifying you that you are in this session.

 You are now able to view GoCo as your employee sees it. Any action you take will be from the employee's POV.

For example, you can request time off as this employee in the view as mode. This differs from requesting as a Full Access Administrator in that when a FAA inputs that request, it automatically approves. In the view as mode, since you are putting the request from the employee POV, it will follow the usual flow of moving to their Manager for approval. This makes it easy to train employee's on how to use the system, without the worry of exposing sensitive information usually only visible to the FAA. 

Once you are done with the View As session, simply hit the "Exit Session" button on the top of your screen.

The browser window will automatically close & you will return to your original Full Access Administrator account. Any action that you took in the view as mode will be tracked in the Activity Report card on the employee's profile.

Hit the view button on the card to display all activity for the employee. Here you will find details including who took action, what action was taken, when the action was taken, & more.

  • Can I sign a Document on an employee's behalf? 
    • This is an action you CANNOT do on the employee's behalf. 
  • Could I see an employee's onboarding flow, for example if the employee is stuck on something? 
    • Yes, you will be able to see the employee's onboarding flow however if there are any document signatures required, you will not be able to sign them on the employee's behalf.
  • Can I view as another FAA?
    • You cannot view as another Full Access Administrator.
