Meet Your Migration Team & How We Communicate
During your migration, you will work with a specialized team dedicated to your success.
- Migration Specialist: Your primary contact, who handles system setup, document migration, and employee data import.
- Payroll Specialist: Manages payroll configuration, reconciles year-to-date data, and prepares for your first GoCo pay run.
- Benefits Specialist (if applicable): Handles benefit plan migration and supports enrollment readiness.
Important Communication Tips:
- Main Contact: Your Migration Specialist is your main point of contact throughout the entire process.
- Email for Correspondence: Please send all migration-related emails to transition@goco.io.
- Training: You'll have access to 1:1 time with a trainer after you complete your assigned training in the GoCo Academy.
Your Migration Timeline & Milestones
The entire migration process typically spans 3–6 weeks, depending on your company's complexity. We've broken it down into four key milestones. You will receive an email notification as each milestone is completed and the next one begins.

Key Actions to Keep in Mind
Benefits Transition (COBRA/HSA/FSA)
If you used TriNet for COBRA, HSA, or FSA, GoCo will transition you to Ameriflex.
- Your Role: You will receive an email from GoCo with instructions to sign in to Ameriflex, accept terms, and enter your banking information.
- Blackout Period: Expect a two-week blackout for FSA balances as they won't transfer until TriNet deactivates. Your TriNet FSA card remains active until your plan with TriNet ends.
- Billing: Ameriflex will invoice you directly; these costs are separate from your GoCo billing.
- Cards: New HSA/FSA cards and COBRA packets will be sent from Ameriflex in a plain envelope.
Employee Onboarding
In Milestone 2: Employee Launch, employees will be invited and begin using GoCo.
-
Employees will log in to GoCo, review and update their personal information, confirm tax withholdings, and submit direct deposit details.
-
Invites come from messages@goco.io—ask employees to check spam or junk folders!
- Goal: All employees must be fully onboarded to be included in payroll.
First Pay Run
Milestone 3 is all about getting ready for and processing your first payroll with your Payroll Specialist.
- Preparation is Key: The First Pay Run is a working session, not a training. You must complete all assigned payroll courses in GoCo Academy beforehand.
- During the Run: You and your specialist will process your first pay run together using live data.
Final Transition to Long-Term Support
Once your migration is complete, your payroll is processed, and your benefits are launched , you'll be transitioned to your long-term support team.
- Support: For product questions or issues, email support@goco.io.
- Strategic Partner: Your Client Success Manager (CSM) is your strategic partner for aligning GoCo with your goals and identifying growth opportunities. Your CSM is not for support tickets.
- Stop Using: Please stop using transition@goco.io after the migration is complete.
FAQ
Q: What is the Employee Census Report? A: It's a summary of all the employee data we've imported from TriNet. You'll review this report in Milestone 2 to confirm accuracy before we invite employees to the platform.
Q: Can I make changes to workflows and settings later? A: Absolutely! We use your TriNet structure as a baseline, but you'll be able to refine and customize workflows throughout your migration and beyond. Your required GoCo Academy courses cover some of this.
Q: What if I have more questions about the migration? A: Your Migration Specialist will reach out to introduce themselves and can answer questions and provide guidance. Respond promptly to your specialists' questions to avoid delays.
