ℹ️ What Is a W-2 Form?
A W-2 form is an annual tax form provided by your employer that shows:
- Total Wages Earned: Your gross income for the year.
- Tax Withheld: Federal, state, local, Social Security, and Medicare taxes withheld.
- Other Deductions: Contributions to retirement plans, healthcare, and other benefits.
Each year, your employer sends a copy of your W-2 to the IRS, state tax authorities, and you. You’ll use this form when filing your taxes to report your income and taxes paid.

❗What to Do if You Find an Error
If you find any discrepancies between your GoCo profile and your W-2, or if any details are incorrect:
- Contact HR or Payroll: Report the error to your HR or payroll department. They can correct your profile or reissue an updated W-2 through a W2-C. Just know that some corrections do not require a W2-C and some do.
- Check Your W-4 Information: If tax withholding information is incorrect, you may need to update your W-4 form in GoCo.
A W-2C is a form used to make corrections on previously issued wage/tax information (W-2s) from current or prior years
