What are my limitations for Contractors & W-2 employees?

Need to understand the limitations per employee when running a pay-run with GoCo's embedded payroll ? Keep reading to learn more!

There may be a few scenarios that you will run into regarding Contractors and W-2 Employees. Not to worry we are here to help you understand what you can and can't do within GoCo's embedded payroll.

  • Starting in 2023 Execupay will file 1099s. Learn how to pull contractor W-2 reports here

Limitations for Contractors (1099 employees)

  • GoCo does not store salary or hourly data for contractors/1099 employees. Payroll admins will need to manually input the contractors' rate and the hours worked every time they perform a pay-run.
  • If employees get paid both ways (W2 & 1099) This employee will need two profiles!
    • GoCo will help set this up, please reach out to your designated GoCo Admin to setup.
    • The most common scenario where this will occur is for example, you have an employee that works on multiple projects. And those projects have different methods of compensation.
  • Without a pay rate you can't export timesheet data on the pay-run for contractors.
    • If you are stuck please reach out to your GoCo team.

Limitations for W-2 Employees

  • The only deductions not stored inside of GoCo are Garnishments. A common example of this is Child Support.
    • This will need to be set up by your Execupay contact first when setting up payroll. Please feel free to ask your GoCo Admin for guidance if you don't know where to go.
