"Exempt from OT" Field Enhancement in Employment Info

In mid-December 2024, we rolled out a product enhancement to improve clarity and streamline payroll processes, particularly for our embedded payroll clients. The term "FLSA Exempt" has been updated to "Exempt from OT" within the Employment Info section of employee profiles and inside of the hiring workflow when adding a new employee.

Why This Change?

This update aims to:

  • Reduce confusion around overtime eligibility.
  • Minimize errors when setting employee statuses.
  • Ensure a smoother payroll experience for admins.

What Changed?

For Hourly Employees:

  • The "Exempt from OT" field now automatically defaults to "No", indicating these employees are eligible for overtime.
  • All existing hourly employees were updated to "No" as part of this enhancement.

For Salaried Employees:

Admins now have three options in the "Exempt from OT" field:

  • Yes: The employee is not eligible for overtime.
  • No: The employee is eligible for overtime.
  • Blank: The field can remain optional and does not need to be completed.
